2,000 t Hopper-Bottom Steel Silo Project
South Africa · Delivered 2023

Project Description
Client Background: South Africa is among Africa's largest corn producers, with a relatively mature grain collection and storage system. The client is a grain storage enterprise in southern Africa needing small-to-medium storage facilities to serve surrounding farms.
Challenge: Land area was limited, calling for a compact storage solution; at the same time, operations had to be simplified to reduce dependence on specialized operators.
Solution: AmGrainTech supplied a hopper-bottom bolted steel silo solution with 2,000 t total capacity. The hopper bottom enables gravity discharge with no extra bin-cleaning equipment. A multi-point temperature monitoring system and axial-flow fan ventilation group keep the grain temperature uniform. The compact layout maximizes storage within the limited footprint.
Process Reference: Per the product knowledge base for steel silo systems, bolted hopper-bottom silos range 10–5,000 t per unit; hopper-bottom gravity discharge is a cost-effective option for small-to-medium storage. Multi-point temperature cables and several axial-flow fans provide zoned temperature control for safe grain storage.
